Jesus told a story of a man who found a treasure hidden in a field. He realized the great value of what he had found, so he quickly gathered as much money as he could by selling his possessions, and he bought the land where the treasure was hidden. And then Jesus said that the Kingdom of God is similar to this. In other words, the Kingdom of God is of such great value that it would not be foolish to rid yourself of all of your possessions in order to attain it. The Kingdom of God is of more value than you can possibly imagine, and people are willing to go to great lengths so that they may hold onto it.
I don’t know about you, but I’m not sure how much I believe that. I mean, I think I believe it in my head, but if I truly believed it in my heart, then I wouldn’t be reticent about sharing it with other people. I wouldn’t be concerned about what others were thinking because of my confidence that I had something to give them of immense value. If you hold entry into the Kingdom of God, do you realize the treasure you possess? How can a person keep that to himself? We must be motivated to share about it with others.
