A Road of Hope (Psalms 27, 31, 34, 52)

In Psalm 34:19a, David states, “many are the afflictions of the righteous.”  We can all relate to that to some degree because we have all faced afflictions of some kind or another.  No one’s life is easy and problem-free – a truth that even the followers of Jesus have to accept.  After all, Jesus was crucified at the hands of unrighteous men.  The real hope comes at the second half of the verse, “but the Lord delivers him out of them all.”  It’s true that the righteous face afflictions just like the unrighteous, but they have the benefit of the Lord being on their side, and the hope that David speaks of is that the Lord will deliver the righteous from the afflictions they face.  If you are a follower of Jesus then you can cling to that hope.  Regardless of how challenging your circumstances are, God will deliver you out of them.  Remain faithful, and don’t give up trusting in Him.  And in the end, everything will be okay.
