How is Your Heart? (1 Chronicles 15-16)

When is the last time you did a heart check?  I'm not talking about your physical heart; I'm talking about your spiritual one.  The problem with David's wife, Michal, is that her heart was sick.  She despised David because of his commitment to the Lord and for his perhaps somewhat reckless worshipping of God.  David had nothing to hide from God because his heart was clean.  He had sought to obey the Lord in all that he did, so there was no shame in dancing and worshipping before Him.  Michal, on the other hand, was embittered by the circumstances surrounding the occasion for reasons that are unknown to us.  It's very possible that she was upset over her father's death and the transfer of kingship to her husband.  But what might cause one person to despise another?  Simply dancing before God?  Probably not.  Usually such a response is the result of deeply held bitterness an lack of forgiveness – all heart issues.  Is there anyone you need to forgive?  Are you holding on to bitterness?  Do yourself and everyone else around you a favor and choose to cancel the relational debt that you believe is owed to you by someone else.  Perform a heart check and cancel the debts.
