Have you ever heard the phrase, “a little bad leaven can ruin a whole loaf?” We had a huge block of cheddar cheese that I bought from Costco a few months ago. It was a great deal, but it was a whole lot of cheese. I opened it and started working on eating it, but I couldn’t eat it fast enough. Wouldn’t you know, it got a little moldy. Now had I allowed the mold to stay, it would have totally consumed my big block of cheese. But I didn’t let that happen. I shaved off the mold in hopes that everything would stay fresh for a while longer. And it did. Just as bad leaven or mold spreads, so does trust. Paul was commending the people of Thessalonica because their trust in God was invigorating to those around them. The same is true of us. When we boldly trust our heavenly Father, it’s an inspiration to those watching, and it empowers them to boldly trust, too. Your attitude is contagious either for good or for bad. The challenge is to make sure that it is an inspiration to those around you.
