There is no ” I ” in team… but there is a ” me “

We had a Student Ministry Team meeting this evening, and it was fun hanging out with my friends who work with students at our church.  Our Student Ministry is incredibly blessed by committed people who love the Lord and who love teenagers.  When Kari and I finally move to Brazil, it's good to know that the ministry will be in capable hands until the church finds a successor for me.
Having said that, I think one of the joys in ministry is getting to work with a team of people.  It's tempting when you're young to try to do everything on your own.  I had a professor in college tell our class that we would make that mistake.  He said, "In your first few years of ministry you'll think you're involving other people, but you won't actually be involving them.  And then after that you'll realize that you're trying to do ministry on your own, and you'll start working with teams."  As much as I hate to admit it, he was right.  Teams are a lot more fun, and they create some really great friendships along the way.  If you're trying to do ministry on your own: QUIT!  You need the help of others, and by refusing to include them, you're robbing them of the privilege of being a part of what the Lord is doing.
Have you had the opportunity to serve on a team?  What was your experience like?
