Some people look at God's laws as a hindrance to their lives. They reason that these laws are present to restrict freedom. It's ironic, then, that David speaks of how these laws actually give him freedom. This isn't a new topic on here or something that I've never addressed before. It's important to me because I think this is a huge misunderstanding that people have about Christians and that some Christians have about their own faith! God isn't down on fun or into making life miserable. God created life, and He created it to be lived to full. Let me ask you this. Who has more freedom:
- The pregnant teenager or the teenager who isn't pregnant?
- The drug addicted person or the person with no addictions?
- The person who no one trusts or the one who everyone trusts?
Those aren't hard questions to answer. God's laws bring freedom to those who choose to follow them. Do they help a person earn his or her way to God? Absolutely not! But they do bring freedom.
