I don't know about you, but Sunday is the highlight of my week. I look forward to seeing people whom I only see every once in a while, and I get to teach God's Word to junior high and high school students.
This evening we concluded a series on prayer. I remember hearing some quote that said something to the effect of: when you get to the end of your life, you won't regret the time you've spent in prayer; in fact, you'll think you should have prayed more. That's definitely true of me, and I'm hopefully not at the end of my life yet! Prayer is a discipline, and like all disciplines, it takes effort, but it is rewarding in the end. Tonight I taught on the parable from Luke 11 where Jesus likens God to a grumpy man who is awakened by a neighbor in the middle of the night. The parable teaches that our persistence in prayer has the power to move the heart of God. Ask, seek, and knock. Keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking. God may decide to give you the very thing you're praying about.
I was reminded afterward that I need to savor every minute with the students. It's amazing what happens to a person's mindset when he realizes that time is limited. More than likely, I only have four months left with them; I have to make the most of the time.
