When a person gives his (or her) life to Christ, he becomes a new creation. The thing that he once was, he is no longer – the desires she once had are gone. I'll never forget when my favorite childhood baseball player, Orel Hershiser, switched from the Dodgers to the Indians. It was a great day for me because I lived in Ohio, and now I had a reason to support the team from my home state. The thing is that when Orel took off his Dodgers jersey and put on his Indians one, he changed teams. He no longer played for the old club; he now played for the Indians. In a way, the same concept is true for us when we follow Christ. We don't play for the same team anymore – we take off our old uniform and put on a new one. We become new creations. We play for God's team, and in the process of doing so we surrender our own will to His will. Have you put on your new jersey? Or are you still trying to wear the old one? Don't lapse back into what you once were; enjoy being what you know are.
