Courage for the Call (1 Samuel 10-12)

One of the amusing things about Saul’s story was his debilitating fear that caused him to hide on the day of his coronation.  Right at the moment when he was proudly being introduced to the people of Israel, he was found hiding among the luggage!  What’s particularly baffling about his response is how obviously divine his call to the kingship truly was.  Samuel surprised him by knowing all of Saul’s questions before they were asked, and he anointed him to be king.  I don’t know about you, but I would be fairly convinced.  Even still, Saul was afraid, and he displayed his lack of faith in what God called him to do.  Has God called you to something?  Are you being bold in fulfilling that call, or like Saul, are you hiding among the luggage in hopes that no one will notice you’re there?  Remember that God equips us for everything He calls us to, and He provides a way for things to work out in the end.
