Finding a way out (1 Corinthians 9-11)

May 20, 2008 By Seth Leave a Comment

Paul reminds us that God will never allow us to be tempted beyond what we can handle.  Isn't that a comforting thought?  Though the temptation you're facing right now might be hard, it's not beyond what you can survive.  When we look at our temptations through that lens, we're no longer victims of the things that tempt us.  Instead, we are challenged to find ways out of the temptation.  And better yet, God does provide ways out for us.  The problem is that, too often, we either do not see the way out or we do not care to see the way out.  When tempting situations arise, then, it seems that a good prayer to pray would be, "God, please help me to see the way out of this situation without giving in to sin."  I believe God answers that prayer to those who pray it with seriousness.
