Forward Motion (Jude)

The life of the follower of Christ must be one that constantly moves forward.  If you are in the same place today as you were ten years ago, then something isn’t right.  One of my favorite movie lines comes from The Shawshank Redemption where Red says, “Get busy livin’, or get busy dyin’.”  Isn’t there a lot of truth to that?  We understand it in the plant world.  Plants are growing or dying, and healthy ones are growing.  But when it comes to faith, we think it’s okay.  The truth is, there is no such thing as a stagnant follower of Christ.  Jude reminded his readers that they needed to be building themselves up in faith.  How does one do that?  Two major ways are through the Word of God and through prayer.  A third, often forgotten way, is to talk to others about God.  The follower of Christ who sees others’ hearts turned to God is bolstered in his or her faith.  Are you on a path of forward motion?
