God ‘ s provision (Deuteronomy 7-8)

September 25, 2007 By Seth Leave a Comment

Sometimes I forget how much God actually provides for me.  I like the reminders found in Deuteronomy 8 of how God provided for the Israelites as they traveled through the desert: they always had food, their shoes and clothing never wore out, etc.  Our daily needs (food and clothes) are things that can easily be taken for granted; I'm sure the Israelites took those things for granted, too.

How often do we express our gratitude to God for his provision of our needs?  Many Christians pray before meals, but does it just become a mindless routine?  Often I become upset with God not giving me what I want rather than offering gratitude for what I have.  A recent story on NBC news stated that people who express thankfulness on a daily basis enjoy life more and live longer.  That's a pretty good challenge for me and my life.  What about for yours?
