God ‘ s Word should make us uncomfortable

August 19, 2008 By Seth Leave a Comment

If you were at LifePoint Church on Sunday you heard me share a message in the adult services on serving.  We looked at John 13 where Jesus showed the full extent of his love by washing the feet of his disciples.  He could have done anything he wanted, but he chose to take on the role of a servant.  It's a pretty powerful story because Jesus turned our whole idea of power upside down.  The most powerful person shouldn't be the servant… but that's what Jesus did.

Jesus did the uncomfortable thing on such a regular basis.  If you were with him, the religious attitudes that he challenged would probably have made you uncomfortable, too.  But that's okay.  It's good to be uncomfortable because it helps us to think about our faith in a new way and maybe, just maybe become more like Christ.  If you're not uncomfortable from spending time with God, then I'm tempted to wonder if you're actually spending time with Him.
