Paul addressed a flawed belief that had made its way into the Corinthian church when he discussed the issue of the resurrection of the dead. The problem with such a belief is that the whole Christian faith comes down to this. If resurrection of the dead cannot occur, then Jesus didn't come back to life, and our faith is useless! At the risk of sounding like a broken record, this is another example of why the Bible has to be taken as a complete whole or not at all. A person cannot believe the majority of the Bible except the part about Jesus coming back to life. If Jesus didn't come back to life, then our sins aren't forgiven, and we're still dead in them. To the contrary, Jesus' resurrection is the source of our hope that we will not have to face death. Without this, our faith crumbles, and we have nowhere to go.
