As I read through this section in Job I couldn't help but think of the Hindu and Buddhist belief in karma. Ultimately, karma is the cause and effect belief that what goes around comes around. If you cut someone off in traffic, then you will get cut off in traffic. If you stiff a waiter at a restaurant, then you will get stiffed. I'm so glad that God does not deal in the currency of karma. If He did, then I would be a goner. In fact, Christianity is the only faith where following all of the rules and doing all of the right things won't get a person any closer to heaven. Entrance into heaven comes down to a simple belief in the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins. If God dealt in the currency of karma, then we'd all be in for it! Thank goodness that He doesn't!
