Seek to please God instead of men (Acts 5-6)

May 2, 2008 By Seth Leave a Comment

When Peter and the others were brought before the council of the high priest and questioned why they continued to spread the message of Jesus Christ, Peter gave the answer: "We must obey God rather than men."  They were facing persecution like no one in America has ever faced for claiming Christianity, yet they still worked at spreading the message even when they faced opposition.  Why?  Because they were not concerned with pleasing men; they were concerned with pleasing God.  Isn't He the One that we ultimately answer to?  Isn't He the the One who has the power to protect and watch over us?  Isn't He the One who holds the world in His hands?  Then why would we seek to please anyone else?  When faced with opposition, I will seek to please God, even if it's unpopular and even if I face criticism because I care more about pleasing my Heavenly Father than I do about pleasing people.
