The depth of God ‘ s forgiveness (Psalm 48; Hosea 1-4)

I can't even begin to imagine what it was like for Hosea when God told him to take a whore as his wife.  As if that wasn't enough, God then told Hosea to remain faithful to his wife even though she cheated on him in their marriage.  Actually, Hosea didn't just remain faithful to Gomer, he pursued her and brought her back to him.  Why would God ask a person to do such a thing?  So Israel might understand God's response to her.  Yes he was hurt by Israel's whoring to other gods, but He was willing to pursue her and bring her back.  I am so glad that God pursues me when I drift away from Him and that His mercy is big enough to forgive me of my sins.
