The heritage of our faith (Hebrews 11-13)

June 15, 2008 By Seth Leave a Comment

One of the most amazing things about being a follower of Christ is the tradition of which I get to be a part.  Have you ever stopped to think about just how long people have been following God?  Hebrews 11 gives us a great picture of those who have gone before us and marked out a path of what it means to live the way that God desires His people to live.  Individuals like Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Rahab, and many more set examples for us.  Those are just the people recorded in the Bible.  What about witnesses from the last century or two: AW Tozer, Charles Haddon Spurgeon, Corrie Ten Boom, and more.  Just like the men and women from Scripture, these people set examples for us on how to live the Christian life.  And now it's our turn.  When we reach the end of our lives and even after, we become the cloud of witnesses to those who come after us.  What kind of heritage are you helping to leave?  In my estimation, the heritage of faith you leave for those who follow is perhaps one of the most important things about you.
