The Only Direction (Obadiah)

December 9, 2013 By Seth Leave a Comment

“The day of the Lord is near for all nations.  As you have done, it will be done to you; your deeds will return upon your own head.” (Obadiah 15)

Have you ever wondered what the purpose of life is?  Where did this world come from?  Where is this world going?  What does the future hold, and why are we even here in the first place?

The Prophet Obadiah reminds us that this world is heading toward the day of the Lord – the return of Christ and the final judgment.  All events are moving the world in that direction, and the promise is that it will, in fact, come.  The question is: will you be ready for it?

Have you prepared your heart for Jesus’ return?  Will you be found among the faithful, or have you wandered away?  There is no better time than now to turn your heart to him.  He is willing to receive any and all who choose to call him Lord.

Father, when the day of the Lord comes, I pray that I will be found among the faithful.  Keep me from being enticed by other little “g” gods that will simply distract me from faithfully following You.  Strengthen me to live my life with complete trust that Your promises are true.
