My senior year in college I found out something really cool: any student was allowed to go to the art building and play with the potter's wheel in the evening. A friend of mine and I decided to give it a shot because we thought it would be fun. Little did I know, it was incredibly hard to do! After an hour or so we realized that we were probably not going to create any serious pottery that evening. I love the illustration from scripture of God being the potter and we being the clay. When something doesn't turn out quite right, the potter has to make some serious alterations. That's what God did with the Israelites: He worked with them and reformed them so they would become the people He wanted them to be. Thankfully God does the same thing with us today. Like a careful potter who wants to make the perfect piece of pottery, God forms us and shapes us in the best way so we can properly reflect Him.
