Wisdom can be found (Proverbs 1-3)

November 24, 2007 By Seth Leave a Comment

One of my favorite texts in the Bible is found in the chapters for today, and I want to highlight it here.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.

                             Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)

These verses tell us several things:

  • God can be trusted – He is trustworthy, and we can rely on Him
  • Our own understanding is flawed – There is a higher understanding out there than our own; there is Someone of greater intelligence (that's God)
  • God will give us direction if we acknowledge Him – When we seek God's direction, He does not turn us away.  When we seek God's wisdom, we do not come back void.

Isn't this a great reminder?  We serve a trustworthy God who is bigger than we, and He is willing to bestow His wisdom upon us if we are willing to ask!
