A commandment to trump them all (2 John, 3 John)

June 19, 2008 By Seth Leave a Comment

There is one commandment that trumps them all: love one another.  John reminds the recipient of his second letter of this important command.  It's amazing that one command can be all inclusive of every other, isn't it?  The other commandments include not lying, not committing adultery, not coveting, honoring parents, etc.  Don't all of these fall under the category of love?  In 1 John the apostle reminded us that we are to love other people because God first loved us.  That's an important concept to understand.  Why did God love us?  Certainly not because we deserved it!  So should we love others when they don't deserve it?  Absolutely!  The true follower of Christ finds himself growing in his love for others on a daily basis.  Are you loving those around you?
