The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook. (1 Kings 17:6)
God will never ask you to do something without equipping you with what you need to do it. In fact, whenever He asks something of you, He provides you with the strength, ability, and resources to follow through with it. There is no clearer picture of this truth than in the miraculous provision given to Elijah when he was told by God to hide from King Ahab.
Elijah was sent out into the wilderness to a place where he would have difficulty finding food. Rather than leaving him on his own to starve to death, God used ravens to bring him bread and meat each day so that he didn’t go hungry. God always provides for those who are faithful to leading.
I believe the Enemy plays on our fears when God gives us instructions for what we are to do. “How will you make it?” he whispers in our ears. “What if you can’t pay the bills? What if your friends and family abandon you? What if you lose your job?” Satan is wonderful at placing doubts in our minds, but these do not have their source in God.
The next time God leads you to do something, let your “yes” be confident, trusting that God won’t ask you to do something without giving you what you need to do it.
God, help me to remember that You are the provider of all that I have. Keep me from refusing to do as You ask simply because I’m afraid of all of the “what if’s”. Let me trust that You will give me the strength, ability, and resources I need to accomplish all that You ask of me.
