Cleaning House (2 Kings 9-11)

Elisha gave Jehu the important job of cleaning Israel's house.  The problem was that it had become corrupt, and the leaders were leading the Israelites away from the Lord.  So Elisha anointed Jehu the new king and gave instructions to rid the nation of Ahab's and Jezabel's evil influences.  Not wasting any time, Jehu nearly followed through with all of the instructions.  If only he had finished the job and not allowed the golden calves to survive.

There are times when we need to clean our spiritual houses, too.  Influences seep in without our realizing it, and we need to evaluate our homes to see if they're a fit place for the Lord to live.  When you do this, though, you must be diligent to rid yourself of all of the influences, unlike Jehu.  His neglect led to his downfall as king.  Is it time to clean house?
