Entertaining angels (Judges 13-14)

October 14, 2007 By Seth Leave a Comment

The Newsboys wrote a song back in the late 90s about the possibility of entertaining angels, and Hebrews warns us to realize that we could, at any moment, be doing just that.  The beginning of the story of Samson is a great reminder that we might not always know just whom it is we are talking to or interacting with.  Maybe you've spoken to an angel and not even known!  When Manoah and his wife realized what had just happened to them there was a sense of fear and awe.  Israel had hit another low point, and God was going to send someone to bring them out of the pit: such an important announcement that God employed and angel in passing along the message.  With an introduction like this, we know that something excited must be about to happen.
