Famous last words (Exodus 23-24)

September 7, 2007 By Seth Leave a Comment

Knowing what is to come in this story, it strikes me as humorous to read the response of the people of Israel after they received God's law: "All the words that the LORD has spoken we will do."  Obviously this isn't the case, and one has to wonder who they were trying to impress with their careless words.  I think that we can sometimes tend to talk a lot but never really follow through with what we say.  I have to believe that God is more pleased by simply following Him than by trying to talk bigger than we are.
