For Such a Time (Esther 1-5)

Purpose
Does anything happen by accident?  Does God put circumstances in our lives for no purpose?  Or perhaps we are where we are for such a time as this.  Mordecai's challenge to Esther when she was faced with a tough decision was simple: maybe God has you in the place you're in for a reason.   Esther was perfectly placed to rescue God's people from the danger that was coming their way, and she had a choice to make: risk her life or miss her opportunity.  I wonder sometimes how the church would be different today if people didn't miss their opportunities to make an impact for God's kingdom when they were in the right place to do so.  It takes a real leader to see the circumstance and to face the risk.  Courage is not the absence of fear; it is the overcoming of it.  Certainly Esther had fear for what might happen to her, but without the presence of fear, there couldn't be courageous leadership.  Has God placed you somewhere for such a time as this?  Are you willing to be courageous?  Or do you look back on your life and see a lot of missed opportunities?  I am so thankful for the examples God gives us in Scripture, and Esther is a great one!
