How far will you go? (Mark 2)

March 14, 2008 By Seth Leave a Comment

I'm curious how far you will go to bring someone you know to Christ.  In Mark 2 we learn of four guys who wanted their friend to see Jesus.  The friend was a paralytic, and he wasn't able to push through the massive crowds.  So these guys cut a hole in the roof of the house and lowered their friend down to the place where Jesus was teaching.  Can you imagine being there?  Jesus is teaching, and all of the sudden pieces of the roof start falling down onto the ground.  Jesus stops and looks up, and the crowd is wondering what is going on.  A man is then lowered down on a bed in front of everyone.  These four men obviously didn't want to miss their chance to bring their friend to Jesus.  They could have come up with all kinds of excuses: "it's not right to cut a hole in someone else's roof", "What will people think?", etc., etc.  But they acted on faith and did what they knew they needed to do.  Are there any people you need to bring to Jesus?  How far will you go to bring that person to Him?  These guys went pretty far.
