Israel's biggest oversight, it seems, in light of all that was going on, was her refusal to turn back to the Lord in times of difficulty. Whereas it can sometimes be hard to follow the Lord when things are going well in a person's life, tragedy and difficulty typically bring repentance. Not so with Israel. Even when they faced tough times they still did not repent and turn to the One who brought them out of slavery, into the land of promise. What do you do when you face difficult things in life? Do you draw closer to your Heavenly Father, or do you move further from Him?
