Jealous for His Name (Ezekiel 38-39)

February 11, 2014 By Seth Leave a Comment

I will be zealous for my holy name. (Ezekiel 39:25b)

It should not come as any surprise to us that God might be zealous (or “jealous,” as other translations read) for His holy name.  After all, there is none greater than God.  There is no one stronger, no one more powerful, no one more knowledgable, beneficent, or full of love.  God is matchless, and none compares to Him.  That’s why He’s jealous for His name.  To attribute these qualities to anyone or anything else is a misattribution – we would be honoring a lesser creation with the qualities that should be given to God.

Stand in awe of His greatness today.  Worship Him for who He is – an amazing God.  Let His name be praised!

God, I want to praise Your name.  There is no other that comes anywhere close to You.  Keep me from attributing Your work to anyone or anything else, and let me find joy in worshipping Your matchless name!
