As Moses restates the Law (literally, Deuteronomy means "second law"), he does a lot to remind the Israelites of their history and where they've come from. As philosopher George Santayana once said, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." It's important to be a storyteller because people need to remember the lessons that have been learned from previous generations. The thing is, people remember stories, and they remember the lessons that are attached to stories because stories tug on our heartstrings. We need to become storytellers so we can help people understand their spiritual heritage, remind them of God's fulfilled promises, and inspire them to trust God in the future. Do you have a good story to share? Don't keep it to yourself! Share it, and let others benefit!
