Lift up your eyes (Isaiah 40-43, 44-48)

Eclipse Have you ever gone star-gazing?  I was in an astronomy class in college, and one night we were able to climb up to the observatory to look at God's creation through the huge telescope at the top.  My freshman year in college we were even able to see a lunar eclipse.  Pretty amazing.  When you look up to the sky and see the expanse, when you look out at the ocean and grasp it depths, when you look at a flower and take in it's beauty, can you do anything other than praise God and recognize his enormity and creativity?  I am thankful that He chose to bless us with such privileges.

My take-away in these 9 chapters is how God said that idols are worthless, mute, immobile, unable to help those who make and worship them. Then I wondered about all the things in my world…are any of them just as worthless and unable to help?
