My refuge (Psalms 56, 120, 140, and 142)

June 26, 2008 By Seth 1 Comment

Over and over again in the Psalms we've been reading we're reminded of David's trust in the Lord.  For a good period of his life, David was being chased by King Saul – Saul wanted to kill him!  Certainly I've had people unhappy with me in the past, but I've never had to run for my life because there were literally people tracking me down with the agenda of putting and end to my existence here on earth.  In such a time, David decided that the only place where he could find refuge was with God.  Other people had let David down, and no doubt other people would continue to let him down, but David was able to seek refuge with the Lord.  What an important reminded for us to hear: we need to go to Him first because He's the only true refuge we have.  Do you seek the Lord as your refuge?  Or do you try to handle your problems on your own?  We can run to Him at any time, and He will welcome us with open arms.
