In God's utter contempt with Israel He poses a question: "Has a nation changed its gods, even thought they are no gods?" Essentially he is saying: Other nations' gods aren't even real, yet they cling tightly to them. Why then do you change your God who is real for something that is not? The Israelites were the only nation who had switched their god, and they made the sad mistake of being the only nation to turn from the one true God to false ones! Why is it that, even today, we can be so prone to worshiping other gods? Sure, our "gods" may not be Baal or Molech, but we put other things on God's throne: money, materialism, self-worship, child-worship, sex, etc. The list could go on and on. The reality is that we need to give our worship to the Yahweh, the only true God; in fact, we need to give Him our very lives.
