In the midst of a lot of instructions for their future, Moses tosses in a promise to the Israelites that we should pay attention to, too. The promise is this: no matter where you go, no matter how far you wander away from the Lord, you can always turn back. God is merciful, and He welcomes home those who, in humility, return to Him. Isn't that great news? So often, people think that they cannot return to God until they have somehow fixed themselves up or righted all of their wrongs. This attitude creates a works-based view of God wherein He is weighing our good deeds against our bad deeds. This school of thought, however, is wrong. No matter where you've gone, no matter what you've done, God wants you back. He is waiting for you to turn around, and He is ready to receive you. Have you wandered down a path of regret? Maybe it's time to turn to God.
