No Quitters Allowed

And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.  –James 1:4

Richard Nixon once said, “Defeat doesn’t finish a man – quitting does.  A man is not finished when he’s defeated.  He’s finished when he quits.”  In the life of the follower of Christ, there is no room for quitting.  After all, quitting implies that the situation is too hard and that you’re incapable of handling the challenges in front of you.  But the very point of the Christian life is that it is too hard and that you’re not able to handle it.  That’s when we turn to God.  The point of perfection and completeness that James talks about is an utter reliance on the Lord over reliance on yourself.  When you realize how utterly hopeless you are on your own you begin placing your trust in the Lord and in His ability to bring you through.  Once you’re relying on Him, there is nothing that you lack that He isn’t capable of providing.  So if you’re stressed out today because of the circumstances surrounding you, and if you’re ready to give up, don’t crumble to the temptation!  Your heavenly Father is waiting for you to hand things over to Him so He can step in and perfectly supply all that you need.
