Pleasing God (Genesis 4-7)

August 5, 2013 By Seth Leave a Comment

Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. (Genesis 5:24)

Trust is the key to any relationship, and Enoch was a man of trust.  Rather than doubting God or living life his own way, he trusted God and lived in a way that was pleasing to Him.  How do we know this?  We know because Enoch never experienced death.  Rather than losing life because of his sin, he so impressed God with his faith that God took him to heaven before his earthly death.

The author of Hebrews said this:

By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.”  For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God.  And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 5:5-6)

Do you know the way to please God?  Enoch exhibited that it’s through trust; God rewards  people who trust Him.

The greatest thing you can do to grow your relationship with God is to place your trust in Him in every single area of your life.  God rewards those who trust Him.  In the case of Enoch, he was taken to Heaven and was on earth no more.

Father, help me to trust you more each and every day.  Whether it be in my finances, in my marriage, or any other area of my life, give me the knowledge to know how to trust you, and then give me the courage to be obedient in doing so.
