Rest (Exodus 34-35)

September 13, 2007 By Seth Leave a Comment

I was once again reminded today of the importance of rest.  God went so far as to mandate that those who did not rest on the seventh day of the week, the sabbath, should be put to death!  This seems to be a case of the punishment not really fitting the crime.  However, it also underscores the extreme value that God places on taking rest. And for what purpose?  To be rejuvenated and to spend time worshiping Him.  It seems that the alternative is to be exhausted with no time for God.  Isn't that what happens with people today?  They wear themselves out, and then they don't have time for God because they're so tired.  Unless we build time for rest into our busy schedules, the outcome will be the same in our own lives.
