There's something about the game plan that the Lord revealed to Amos in these chapters that gets me excited. Yes, there was certain destruction and despair for Israel, and they would not hear God's voice for a long time, but the end result was restoration. Even from the beginning, God had a plan, and that plan involves restoring His people. What a great time of year to be reading through this stuff as we prepare to celebrate Christ's birth in a few short days. Christ was the hope of Israel; He was God's plan for restoration… He is God's plan for restoration! God began with this whole plan in mind. He knew humanity would fail him, but He loves us so much that He came up with a way to appease His wrath and maintain His love. I am so thankful that God did not leave us in our broken state but that His love sent Christ to us. Hope in the form of a baby. Immanuel: God with us. Amen.
