The Grand Weaver (Genesis 43-45)

Who could have known?  Who could have known that there would be a famine in the land of Egypt and in Canaan?  Who could have known that Israel, as a nation, might come to demise were it not for the provisions of Egypt?  Who could have known that Egypt might not have been prepared for the famine had it not been for the wisdom of Joseph?  Who could have known that the animosity of Joseph's brothers could be used to be used to sustain Israel through the difficult times?  Who could have known that God might use the life of Joseph to be a foreshadowing of the coming Christ and that the same grace Joseph showed to his brothers would one day be extended to the entire world?  Who could have known?

There is something simply amazing to me about this story as I think about the way God wove together the various pieces and used less than desirable circumstances for His purposes and for His glory.  Oh that I might have the same vision of Joseph: realizing that God is the Grand Weaver, and He is weaving a beautiful tapestry.  He uses the circumstances of our lives to teach us and to mold us into the people He wants us to be – for His glory.  And in His kindness, we are truly blessed!
