The overflow of the heart (Matthew 12:1-21; Mark 3; Luke 6)

Naflion_marked_orangeHave you ever paused to think about what kind of fruit falls from an orange tree?  Don't think too long because the answer is pretty easy: oranges.  The same is true with an apple tree… it bears apples.  Wouldn't it be truly amazing if you had an apple tree that produced oranges or an orange tree that produced apples?  It would be amazing because it's impossible.  In fact, if you walked up to a tree and didn't know what type of tree it was, you could tell just by the fruit that it produced.  That tree would give itself away after a period of time because it can't be disguised forever.  I think that's the point Jesus was getting at when He talked about the abundance of the heart producing itself through one's mouth.  Word are, just like fruit, indicative of what is going on inside someone.  Your mouth will eventually give away the things that are hidden in your heart.  Realizing that, wouldn't it be better to address heart issues in your life before they make their way out of your mouth?  Are there any heart issues going on in your life?  Any greed, jealousy, anger, or hurt?  Any arrogance, pride, or selfishness?  The fruit of the heart is produced from the mouth.  What kind of fruit do you produce?  What's in your heart?
