In His prayer for His followers, Jesus prayed that they would be sanctified in the truth (v. 17). If you’re a follower of Christ, what exactly does that mean? Sanctification is a big term that the Bible scholars use to refer to the process of becoming more like Christ. It’s really a daily process wherein, from time spent with God through prayer or daily devotions, our wills are conformed more fully to His and our desires shift from being worldly desires to being Godly desires. As we bathe our minds and our hearts in His Truth, we become conformed to His likeness. You play a role in the process by committing to spending time with Him. So the real question is, are you spending time with the Father? Are you studying His Word on a daily basis? Do you enjoy a vibrant prayer life? All of these things are part and parcel to the process of sanctification.
