The Promise Keeper (2 Kings 5-8)

The sins of the Israelites certainly carried a lot of consequences for the nation.  Things had gotten so bad that parents were even eating children in order to survive.  But even in the midst of all of the horrible things that were happening, the Bible reminds us that God preserved Judah because of His promise to David.  The nation had nearly hit rock bottom, but God remained faithful to the things He had promised to them.  He allowed them to suffer for their sins, but He never abandoned them completely.  The great news for us is that God keeps His promises regardless of what we do to live up to our end of the bargain.  He will never let you down because He sticks to His Word.  If you find a promise in the Scripture, you can cling to it and trust that God will fulfill it.  He is the Promise Keeper.
