The Reality of Following Christ (Matthew 9-10)

March 23, 2008 By Seth Leave a Comment

When Jesus sent out the disciples to do ministry among the people, He warned them of the costs of following Him.  In short, He let them know that doing His will was not a popular activity and that those who opted to do so would face persecution.  I wonder how many people in our American churches suffer from persecution.  It seems that those who are true followers of Christ will experience the hatred of others for the sake of the Lord.  There is no promise of cotton candy and lollipops on the path of the committed, but there is promise of persecution.  Jesus says that those who truly want to follow Him must give up their lives and take up their crosses daily.  Are you daily dying to yourself?  The true follower of Christ will find no other option in life than to do so.
