The set of the gaze (Psalms 96, 100-101, and 105)

Have you ever thought about the idea that our eyes are one of the first entry points to our minds?  I think our ears are another first entry point.  I call them first entry points because it’s through our eyes and our ears that we receive ideas and become the people we ultimately become.  That’s why it’s so incredibly important to guard those things that we allow ourselves to watch and to hear.  I’m reminded of an old Vacation Bible School song I learned growing up that addresses this same idea:

So be careful little eyes what you see
So be careful little eyes what you see
For Your Father up above is looking down with love
So be careful little eyes what you see

We must resolve to set our gaze on things of value and of worth, for those other things are the things that corrupt our hearts and draw us from our Heavenly Father.  Where is your gaze set?  If you’re looking at is worthless, then you should consider changing the view.
