Under the Shadow (Psalm 91)

September 30, 2013 By Seth Leave a Comment

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.  He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.  With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”  (Psalm 91:14-16)

When we choose to follow God and love Him, we choose to live under the shadow of His protection.  For the Psalmist, the promise of God was that He would rescue and watch over him.  God would rescue him and answer him in times of trouble.  God would deliver and honor him and grant him salvation.

Those are incredible promises, and they come when we submit to God.  There is no guarantee that our lives will be easy, but we know that no matter what comes our way, we have a loving, heavenly Father who is looking out for our good and caring for our needs.  He invites us to bring our concerns to Him, and He takes pleasure in being with us in times of trouble.

Remember that, regardless of what danger you face in life, those who live in the shadow of the Almighty are under His loving care.  There is not better shadow under which you can live.

Lord, help me to lean on You in times of trouble.  Let me look to You as the source of my strength and protection.  Let  me call on You, and be pleased to answer me.
