What Separates Christianity From Other Religions (Acts 3-4)

Some time back I had some Mormon missionaries stop by my house.  I invited them in for a conversation about the differences between Mormonism and Christianity, and we had a fairly lively debate about the issue.  One of the many issues I have with Mormonism is the fear that dominated the actions of the leaders.  The majority of Americans considered taking multiple wives perverse, and it resulted in persecution of the Mormon people.  The Mormon claim that God told them to do this just doesn’t stack up because, when confronted on the issue, they didn’t pray for God to give them boldness that they might continue spreading the message of Mormonism; they ran west to Utah.  The disciples, however, faced a similar persecution when they were preaching about Christ and healing people.  They didn’t give up the mandate they had been given for spreading the Gospel; they didn’t cower in fear, either.  No, the disciples prayed that God would give them boldness because they knew that the world needed the message of Christ.  And as I stated yesterday if you read the post, people give up their lives for a cause all the time; but people don’t willingly give up their lives for something they know is a lie.  The disciples knew if they had seen Jesus come back to life, and whatever they saw motivated them to pray for boldness to carry on the message.  Have you ever prayed for boldness?  God desires for us to be bold in sharing the message of Christ’s redemption.
