What will it take? (Jonah)

December 15, 2007 By Seth Leave a Comment

There are times when we run away from God.  Jonah is a key example of this because God told him to go to Nineveh to preach to a lost people, but Jonah despised the people and didn't want to do as God wished.  Once he set sail on a ship heading in a different direction, Jonah endangered the lives of the others on board.  It took being thrown in the belly of whale for Jonah to do as God asked.  Ultimately, we find out that Jonah just didn't want the people to repent; he wanted them to suffer for their sin.  Jonah's pride and arrogance got in the way of doing what God wanted him to do.  Is there anything in your life that keeps you from doing as God has asked?  If so, what will it take to change your attitude?  In Jonah's case it took a whale; hopefully God will not need to use such drastic means in yours.
