I just watched a video on vision for my Master of Ministry program with Anderson University. One of the things the speaker said that really made me think was about how his vision was shaped for the church he leads. He suggested that the shaping of the vision came from experiences and pictures. The experience component was made up of looking at bad experiences and asking questions of why they were bad, and the picture component was from looking at good experiences with a picture of how things should be. There's probably a level of truth to that for all of us as it comes to vision – especially in leadership. For myself, I have seen the gamut of good and bad, and those experiences have led to me ask questions and have inspired me with ideas for the future. As I think of our ADVENTURE in Brazil, I know that the Lord gave me a vision for helping to plant a church in Recife. I'm not sure how much my past experiences come into play with the forming of the vision, and maybe I will have more clarity on that once we get to Brazil.
When you've been inspired with a vision, where did it come from? How did you go about putting it into action?
